More than 40 volunteers have signed-up to be part of a Buckinghamshire Community Energy Champions Network being developed by USEA in partnership with the four Buckinghamshire District Councils and the County Council.

This Buckinghamshire-wide initiative, funded by the Big Society Fund, is bringing together individuals with similar interests to share knowledge and ideas with the goal of increasing awareness on energy efficiency and climate change as well as help tackle fuel poverty within Buckinghamshire.

We have so far developed a toolkit with activities, tips and resources (such as an online carbon calculator and energy efficiency quiz) and have delivered three introductory workshops to help volunteers improve their skills, develop their role as a Community Energy Champion as well as meet key staff from their Local Authority area.

Other resources set up include a web page, Facebook page, Twitter account, and a Private Forum where Champions can exchange ideas and suggestions on activities undertaken and on how to further develop the network.

Every month we ask the Champions to report back on the activities undertaken within their Community, this leads to the possibility of being elected Champion of the month and win an ethical superstore voucher. The response so far has been great with Champions getting involved in talks, presentations and in organising campaigns, well done to all, keep up the good work!
