Figures from the Department of Energy and Climate Change suggest 5.5 million residents are spending more than 10% of their income on their energy bills.
This comes before the price rise which has already been announced by two of the 'big six' energy companies. Coupled with this is a reduction in the Winter Fuel Payment for all over 60s, and the budget cut to Warm Front scheme, residents are going to find it increasingly hard to afford to keep their homes warm this winter.
As well as the financial concern, residents not heating their homes between 18 and 21 degrees centigrade will be putting their health at risk.
